They should not send him down to gain the UFA year. I would not object to him being lent to the WJR's. Not only would it be a good experience for him, it would give the Flames 2 weeks to have Knight, Granlund, Reinhart ect up from the heat. |

I'd say no to sending Monahan. He's playing great in the NHL, why slow things down for him?
Also I don't want him playing with Nurse, I want Nurse punching his face in a couple years |

Did you know that Nurse said Momahan was the hardest player to play against in the W? |

Berra has all the tools to be a good NHL tender, needs some work on rebound control but that'll come with experience and guideance. |

No point in sending down Money, he's in a calder race so that shoild mean he's just fine. I would send him to the WJC though. I agree it would be good for him but it would also allow for us to see some of our other young prospects while he's away, with less than 2 months to the trade deadline. Granlund, it seems has been tearing up the AHL. Everytime I go check the Heat scores he's on the scoresheet. |

Man that game was painful to watch... Berra is looking better each game but we are a team in rebuild... Ramo needs a string of games...
No way Monahan gets sent down! None! WJC's however... It would be good for him to compete and a chance to boost his confidence even more. |

Sending Monahan down would be really stupid. Extremely stupid. Sending him to world jrs though might be good for him. I wonder if he wants to go? |

If the team continues to falter a bit and remain a bottom dweller. For sure Monahan will be lent to WJC. It's a dream for any top class Hockey player at his age to be part of that tournament. Management knows that and it is also another step in development to play on such a large stage with similar players. Monahan would definitely want to be part of that tournament. I know it's not his decision but Feaster and Co. will definitely keep that in mind. |

Maybe I'm in the minority but I don't think it'd be great for him. I don't think it hurts him long term or anything but he's already doing well against NHL talent. Why lower his competition? What if he goes to the WJC, then comes back up and has to re-adjust to the speed, positioning, physicality, etc. Might set him back some games IMO. |

Most seem to think this, but in fact when asked, most players will tell you that they would much rather play/remain in the NHL. |

It would be a great experience for him. I think if you asked he would jump at the chance. It's every juniors dream to play in that tournament. |

Having friends that are NHL players at WJC eligible age, I know for a fact that they want to be part of the tournament. I also know that Management relays info to players that they are required to answer when asked by the media. It all depends on the player though! Most Canadians dream of a WJC gold medal, a Stanley Cup and an Olympic gold medal! To be given the chance at atleast one of them is a dream!

Wasn't there a case a couple of years ago where a kid was asked and he said he wanted to go play? Trying to remember a name.
I think the answer to the question would be different it the player was just on loan and not sent back to junior for the rest of the year. |

Of course...but I think the biggest difference here with Monahan is that hes getting a ton of ice time and opportunity to develop at the NHL level...most rookies who do go back to play in the WJC are those getting limited minutes because they are playing on a fully stocked NHL roster, per se. That said, I doubt a guy like MacKinnon goes either. |
